Représenté depuis 2016 par la Galerie Nicolas Xavier à Montpellier, MODE 2 a notamment participé à l’exposition « 10 Years of Featuring » (2025).

A pioneer of post-New York graffiti, MODE 2 is a major artist of global hip-hop culture. Part of the first wave of European graffiti, he has had a considerable influence on figurative work in this art form. Born in Mauritius, MODE 2 grew up under the Indian Ocean sun before moving with his family to England, where he discovered an inexhaustible source of musical influences as a child. In 1984, carried by the hip-hop wave sweeping through London, he painted his first graffiti in the Covent Garden district. More than music, hip-hop was then an entire culture, fertile ground for drawing, poetry, dance and expression.
In 1985, he founded The Chrome Angelz (TCA) crew and made his first trips to Paris the same year. A close collaboration began with SCRIBLA, ZAKI and PRIDE, through which each found inspiration and broadened his range of styles. The TCA went on to work with other major names in graffiti within the Crime Time Kingz (CTK), including BANDO and DELTA, and later with JONONE. While MODE 2 is as interested in lettering as other writers, he particularly excels at depicting characters. In 1987, his work made the cover of “Spraycan Art”, the leading book on graffiti worldwide, bringing him international recognition.

Already working on canvas, MODE 2 brought his work into galleries in 1995, in a group exhibition at agnès b.’s headquarters on rue Dieu in Paris, for the release of the Rolling Stones’ live album Stripped. He is today one of the major figures of the international contemporary scene. Drawing, dance and music seem to beat in unison through his compositions. The resulting harmony highlights the link between these disciplines, which all meet within a culture that goes far beyond the name hip-hop. MODE 2 is the icon of an aesthetic of movement, intertwining and rhythm.

Represented since 2016 by Galerie Nicolas Xavier in Montpellier, MODE 2 notably took part in the exhibition “10 Years of Featuring” (2025). In 2026, he and André created “La Folle Journée de Mr. A”, a four-handed project shown in Montpellier in April, in Paris in June, and in Toulouse in the autumn.
